Contains 113 original letters of Clarence Blake to his father, John Harrison Blake, written while residing in Europe. Letters document Blake's travels and activities as a student. They discuss medical education and his specialization in otology; report on the Austro-Prussian War and Blake's efforts to arrange the sale of arms to Austria through his father's firm, the Connecticut Arms Company; and mention many students and professors with whom he was acquainted. Other papers include a letter addressed to Blake about an order for American muskets; letter of his father about the son's studies; essay and poem; and autographs.

Blake (Harvard, M.D. 1865) was Walter Augustus Lecompte Professor of Otology at Harvard Medical School from 1907 to 1913.
